Valve Adjustments?
Ok, well the time has come to get a valve adjustment done on the s2k. It is finally getting to the point that it is ticking in the low rpm band (between idle and about 2500).
I had it out the other day to stretch her legs (since I barely drive it) and it started to get really bad so I just put it back in the garage. I am pretty familiar with valve adjustments as I have done them on a couple other cars way back in the day (not any Honda's yet, let alone an s2k).
I called around a couple dealers and they are quoting me between $230 and $300 for one. I checked HTG and found the parts I need (gasket, etc). So I am going to attempt it myself as I am pretty mechanically inclined. I would just feel better if I had a watchful set of eyes looking over my shoulder to make sure I don't muck anything up with this being a first time thing with my s2k. I'd really rather not spend the $250 for labor I can very well do myself. Is there anyone in the Mid-A area (within MD preferably) that wouldn't mind helping out a fellow s2k'r with a valve adjustment that has had previous experience doing them (can you tell, I really don't wanna mess it up). I would gladly provide generous compensation for a well trained set of eyes to look over my shoulder (just not upwards of what the dealer wants to rape me for)
.
Maybe if there are some other owners who have the need to do the same thing we could have some kind of valve adjustment day meet??
Anyways, if anyone is willing to help out one, if not more s2k owner(s). Post up!
Save my s2k from the dealer!
