Default When Changing Your Engine Coolant

FYI.

I changed my coolant today before heading out to Texas. I used my Honda service manual to guide me through the steps. I couldn't get the drain bolt out from the right side of the block. I even tried an impact wrench to no avail. Finally I phoned a friend. Turns out that they don't remove that bolt either. Just drain the radiator(no need to remove any plastic undertray) and fill as directed to in the manual. Drain the overflow resevoir also.

The manual calls for this service to be done at 45,000 miles. I did it as a preventative measure a little early.

From what I have read here, no one bothers with the plug, now did you flush it really good?

I will be draining my coolant and changing my thermostat (Mugen) this weekend

Thanks for the post Skip. I have toyed with purchasing a Service Manual, but now you make me wonder if it is money well spent? If it prompts one to do stuff that is incorrect?

For what it is worth last Monday I changed the MTF and did a slight overfill (As per XViper's thread about 1.8 Qts) and interestingly enough the "howl" that others have complained about all but went away! (?)

I think that it is interesting that there are claims that dealers charge as much as $145 for this "glorified oil change" for less than $9 worth of lube.

BTW I also changed my cabin filter (following Airgate's post) and at 29,865 miles I was amazed to see how dirty it was!
