Winter Tire Help
Josh, having lived in the Washington D.C. area all my life, I don't think you really need snow tires. If you are very inexperienced with rear wheel drive in snow and ice, my best advice is learning and practicing driving and handling techniques in slippery conditions with the S. The percentage of days with snow or ice on the roads around here is a very small percentage of the time. As xviper said, driving on dry conditions (which will probably be 90% of winter days), you will tear up your snow tires. Even factoring in your PA trips, you are likely better off with your stock S02's if driven conservatively. Also, since we sometimes get ice over snow, the S02's might ever be better on those icy days than the snow tires!? Good luck.
Yeah I agree with you guys. I decided to hold off on the winter tires for now. I took a trip to PA this weekend and lucked out because the snow had melted by the time I got there.
If I can make it through one winter I will have a 4wd for the next one.
