Zero - I'm a bloke, but I still have 2p on this one:
Stu-Boy's Rule #1 for dealing with spouses: What they say and what they mean. The two are never the same.
If you tell her, even if she does the whole understanding thing and says all the right stuff, there'll be a brooding resentment there and it will surface in avery row you have for the next 100 years.
My advice then - explain the situation and say you are trying for a compromise..... then approach your employer and ask them for a compromise - eg, say that you'll start an hour early each day to cover your position (you'll be used to early mornings soon sunshine ) but leave at lunchitme on Wednesdays and Fridays...

sadly not..........trading support for the bank....very secure dial ups
Having said that we are so quiet at the moment I can see myself getting the boot soon anyway....redundancies are just around the corner...writing's on the wall....which is why I need to bank the cash now while it's still flowing....I might have plenty of time on my hands to spend with the new baby soon

Sadly not that easy....my role is a bit like a fireman's....i.e sitting around doing sweet FA until the alarm goes and then it's all hands on deck
It's about providing cover ya see....I can have days like today where nothing's gone wrong but others where it's manic. There's no way of predicting
I already get in for 5.45 am a lot of the time anyway....it's a tricky one this
