well. i have some stuff to say. and im going to say that im sorry right up front if this offends any of you. i dont intentionally mean to upset any one person. im just going to tell the truth. take it or leave it, and the changes that ensue, i know i will enjoy, if you wish to enjoy them with me so be it. if not, carry on.
now im no *community organizer* and i dont plan on being one, and im not putting our current one down at all. what i am, is a guy who is dedicated to the automotive world, and cars in general. im no idiot, and those of you who know me well know this, i am in management, and my job is to make a large group of guys get along in a close working environment, while helping to educate them on how to properly repair cars. well, you dont get my position by being an oil changer, and you dont get there by being a loose cannon. know that when i speak, it is based in truth, and usually very heart felt.
im at the point that i feel this prediction ive made long ago has come to a head, and now its time that we make some changes to benefit the people that this site is intended to benefit. s2000 owners and enthusiasts. what i have seen in recent months is pathetic. instead of s2000 meets, and people who are into the cars, we have people who actually come to the meets, and talk bad about the cars, and bring some other make or model of car. and there are several who are cancer, they actually own an s2000 and will stand and talk smack about other owners, and you can tell by the way they treat their car, that it really doesnt matter that they even have an s2k. they take no pride in it at all.
well, what this has now caused is that less and less people enjoy going to the weekly *meet* why, because they want to go there, and hang with good friends, and talk about something they enjoy, and that is the car that they chose to buy.
not Is300's, not CRX's, not chevy blazers, and the last thing that i want to hear, is someone running on about how fast there car is, or how good they are in that kind of car, thats wasted airtime, im there to look at a row of s2000,s and talk about what the latest mods that ive done to it. im not there to hear all about the latest autocross, or how some guys crx is faster than an s2000. sorry gang, thats just plain rediculous. if you wanna have an scca meet, do it somewhere else.
the nhra meets are up the street, i dont bring camaros ,novas, and mustangs to our meets. why.. its just wrong. if i even asked one of my buds to come, theyd say, well ill ride with you in your s2k. they have respect, they dont go and say, haha, my camaro runs 9s, id wax all these s2ks, thats just arrogant, and those guys have respect. something that i think alot of guys in this group lack.
so, from now on, sorry i wont be coming to any of the *meets* that are posted on the site. as i know about 75% of the other folks arent coming also. instead i will be posting when i will have my own lil meets, s2000's only. so that we dont have people who say this kind of stuff at our meets...

(we don't invite you out to dinner cause your car has beat x amount of cars. think about it.)

there is no we inviting me, when the person who wrote this doesnt even own an s2000. sad ay. troll i say.
so if you read this and feel interested in having a meet that will expose these bad ass cars, and chill with only s2000 guys, then PM me. and we can go from there.
as of now, it will either be friday nites, or saturday nites, and starting at islands,BJ's, or the BWW on hualapai.
take it easy guys, and see you all soon. lates dave

i had always thought we were just a large group of guys that enjoyed cars? not the S2ki club and friends.... just a group of guys that had a common intrest, cars.

i didn't know it was any more political or complicated than that... nor would i ever want it to be...

ok i will wash my car more often if thats what you were getting at . and i will help you pick up any extra tranny parts you leave lying on the road so i dont get another flat. and i will join you on your S2000 meets cuz AP1's have nicer rear bumpers i dont want the general public thinking All S2000 have that horible bumper thAt forces you to run dual exhaust . but seriously i do like the idea of an S2000 meet. but i have made some good friends threw the site that drive IS300's and other cars. but your still faster than me and that sucks but one day my front bumper will be in front of yours and you will grovel at my feet. but i am still PHAT (proportionatly husky and tight) or (pretty hungry and thirsty). im tired and now i go to sleep.

Ya know, I think I agree with you. We come out to enjoy our car and other people's cars (no matter what the make). I'm sure things are said about certain cars being faster than others, but what's it matter. I've been around plenty of men and their cars and you all do it!!! I think that learning about different types of cars would make someone more knowledgable about cars in general. Maybe these meets are to get to know people too! There is more to a person than their car and people can have regular conversations. If people race on the track or off the track-- let 'em talk about it. It's a pretty lonely world if one person always got to pick the people to talk to and the topic to talk about. Coming from someone who also holds a management position-- I'm surprised you don't let everyone have their own voice and make their own decision about what to drive in to the "meets." No business can survive with each person acting exactly like the other. Not to mention, I don't think these meets were in need of someone delegating what needs to be done. Why are you comparing meets to your work? I also wasn't aware that S2000's were so high and mighty that they had to have exclusive meets all to themselves where other car owners were not invited. That's pretty shady!

These Wed weekly meets were never intended to be s2k only meets as they never started s2k only. Ray and I had been going to BWW with a couple of the VW guys and some other random people long before the LV forum was even around. We called around and invited a couple of friends and decided to form our own thing at BWW on Eastern. Then we started posting about it. Many of you may recall it was actually started on Tues wing nights but after we got bigger Wed became a better idea so it'd be easier to accommodate a large group. I've had quite a few people express to me that they liked the fact that we didn't close our doors to people. The other thing I've always liked about these meets is it gives everyone a shot to meet some new people of a different group.
We started this wednesday night meet as a bunch of "car people" getting together. In the beginning we had everything from old chevy show trucks to lvdrift people to german car people to club racers to........you get the idea. Conversations aren't always neccisaily about cars either. (we've talked everything from clubbing to home improvement)

And about the razzing. Everywhere I've ever been if you aren't getting razzed by the people you're with at some point or another then they don't like you. (it can get a little crazy with how many we have show up though)

One of the things I really like about LV is how laid back people are and willing to invite others who don't or can't always have the same stuff (cars). Besides as someone else said the more you learn about the other peoples cars the more it can help with yours. We all have our strong points, and there are things that we learn from each other that we might not have learned or thought of on our own.

You are welcome to come with us on wednesday nights as another car enthusiest. If you chose to exclude yourself and limit your associations to only like chassis coded vehicles, sorry. I go to wed night meets to be with other car nuts and get away from the daily grind at least once a week(I hear it's good for your sanity to do something like this). Being a manager I'm sure you understand the benifit of a little break now and then.

Since I'm the only one with a CRX who attends and I got an honorable mention a few times... I'll add my two cents (Karim, JP... I gotta keep you guys busy with moderating, right? )

Now, I'm going to say a lot of things that aren't heart felt...it's usually off the cuff. I'm also going to be speaking the truth. I'll also be distorting the truth to make my side seem more factual and easier to digest.

Dave...you speak out both sides... let me pin-point some things:
because they want to go there, and hang with good friends, and talk about something they enjoy, and that is the car that they chose to buy
then you say:
there to look at a row of s2000,s and talk about what the latest mods that ive done to it.
Now, I've overheard your conversations about your S2000. I've read your latest "achievements"... what does it consist of?
is someone running on about how fast there car is, or how good they are in that kind of car, thats wasted airtime
First day I met you, you mentioned how you had a 9sec VW... as if it was some badge of honor. Ever since, the conversations somehow included the recent street encounter. Great. I'm all for what you want to talk about, but you're asking people to filter out what they want to talk about, when you're as "guilty" of it worse than anyone else.

Like I've said in previous posts... people enjoy your company when you're not trying to prove how much better you are than eevryone else.

how some guys crx is faster than an s2000
Since this is directed towards me, I can say this without a doubt, that I have never been overheard saying "My CRX is faster than S2000s". Why? Cause I haven't RACED one. I've posted it, sure, but, it was merely to get you all tingly inside

And since you seem very irked by my CRX... notice how I rarely bring it out? Notice how when I do, I park it away from the rest of the group, at the end of a line of s2000s, or next to JP or Karim. Why? Cause I know my CRX is a lump of poo, but it's a fun cheap car. I'll never tout it as anything else. Hell, JP and Karim (even Rylan when he gets the chance) "razz" me for not taking it out of state to track events... cause i know it's a POS.

I enjoy all cars. I like SRT4s when they came out. I liked the Cobras that came out. I love the Supra and TC that came out. Although I "razz" Ro_ja boy about his car and his choice of mods... I like it. Why? cause there's a wonderful thing about car enthusiasts, we enjoy tinkering with cars. With that, we learn from each other's experiences. If Vince and his IS300 have a problem with a suspension setup, JP or Jimmy could possibly help.

Dave, it could have just been easier if you sent me a PM asking me not to show up, since I am the bane of your dining experience.

On the flip side, of all the people, I DEFINITELY hand out a lot of ribbing (to Karim, JP, Steve, etc) and receive a lot of ribbing (from Karim, JP, Steve, etc). If I offend anyone, they are more than welcome to talk to me about it. I'm about comedy. Comedy is fierce and enlightening. Usually both. and if you had to give descriptions of the various people and what they are known for during dining, I'm sure mine would consist of Poop Jokes and CRX/autocross whore.

Karim, let me first start off by saying that you are a great community organizer and that you know how to deal with problems on the board well. With that being said, I understand where Dave is coming from. I used to love going to the Wed meets because it was cool to hang out with a group of friends. Then I started overhearing people saying negative stuff about other peoples cars or what they choose to do with there cars. Personally, I am sick of hearing that autocross is the only real motorsport and that people who dont autocross there s2000s are wasting a $35k machine. If you want to autocross, autocross. Just dont talk shit about other motorsports or put people down for not wanting to engage in autocrossing. Im all about meets with friends, whether it be s2000 only or not. If people are truly friends, and dont talk shit about each other, then the more the merrier. I dont look down on people for driving a CRX or other cars. I want a CRX so that I can turn it into a drag car to tell you the truth. IS300s are badass cars. I wanted one until I saw the headlights of an S2000 coming up the street and fell in love with the looks of it. Anyways, I know that I have lost interest in the Vegas forum because of some of the people.

i can't believe of all people Dave got wound up about this. Dave, do you even realize the irony of what you're saying?

the last thing that i want to hear, is someone running on about how fast there car is, or how good they are in that kind of car, thats wasted airtime
WHAT? this coming from DAVE? do you even realize how much everyone has listened to you run on about how you outran 'this car' or 'that car' and how superior your car is compared to everyone else's car? i've been listening to you talk that way since i worked at VW and you just got your RSX.

so you're suggesting we have s2000 only meets? how about we take it a step further and have AP1 only meets? what if we banned AP2s? or how about we break it down ever further and have 'only certain color meets'. do you see how ridiculous this is sounding??

should i not be allowed to hang out with any of the friends i've made over the past year because i daily drive a camaro and the S is in storage?

i for one like seeing different types of cars at out meets, i like seeing what other people are passionate about. i may not agree with it all the time, but it's good to keep an open mind.

and what the hell does work have to do with anything? i manage a group of people too, but i like leaving work at work and relaxing when i'm around my car buddies. life is too short to let work seep into every aspect of your life.
