although the cutting doesn't seem appealing at first you will appreciate the gains and the aggressive sound of the intake.

heck, if you wanted to go back stock it would cost you 70 USD to replace the inner fender trim.
You'll never ever see the cut pieces anyway...
what's stopping yah???

true, true..(on my Gsr, i had the arospeed intercooler-style front mount intake in for a while, and it was almost the same amount of cutting and whatnot..so its all good...although in that situation, the pipes on the intake i had came sooooo low to the ground.people were getting scared from sparks below the front bumper,hahh..i changed it back right away to regular non-cold intake.)

There really is not that much cutting involved - I believe I cut out a 6"x6" square and that was larger than the opening needed to be.

My question is how necessary are the underbody trim pieces? I still have been too lazy to put the two I removed back on...

Thanks - I was leaning towards reattaching them and you convinced me. This weekend will be a good time to jack up the ole girl and get those back on.

Got my 4-IG intake yesterday, with the help of your instructions and my son, install took no more than 90 min. Most time was spent finding where to put rubber gromit. I'd also agree that there was a power gain ( car actually started getting a little squirlley when hitting 2nd) and the sound is great. Thanks for the help.
