They sure do...in Hanover NH they actually followed me into my garage and demanded to know where my front plate was! So...now I drive with the LIVE FREE OR DIE plate. UGH!

I have my front plate in the grill.You are allowed to run your front plate in the windshield or sunvisor flipped down.

I live on the VT/NH border - I don't have my plate and have not had any problems yet in either state... *goes looking for some wood to knock on*

Last summer, my neighbor said that 4 members in the Corvette club got fined $75 each, plus the officer made them make an appointment within a week to show him that the plates were on. I believe my neighbor said the officer told them to come for a safety/compliance vehicle inspection. He was putting his plate on while we were talking.

I have always had my plate on.
