so assuming you change it in the fall ( good time, I agree), doing it a second time in the spring doesn't have a demonstrable benefit that I am aware of.
But it makes me feel better!

I can think of much better uses for lubrication.

Dave,
what do you think is happening to the oil in your engine as it sits over the winter?
that would be different from, say for example, sitting in a plastic bottle on the shelf?

how many seconds of run time does it get between the fall oil change and the spring oil change?
I dont think anything is happening to it. It does get some run time yes. Old habits Jerry old habits. ..... I just change it it gives me peace of mind silly yes but hey thats me.

I am always amused that this topic is a never ending discussion. People like their "peace of mind" and "rules of thumb" with their oil changing habits. There's even a discussion thread going right now on my company's intranet forum. People all over are weighing in with their unsubstantiated statements about "my mechanic says this" or "I read that you should do that."

Bottom line is, 1) Make sure you follow the mfr's maintenance when the car is under warranty. 2) After the warranty is up, you can either get it tested every time to find a "sweet spot," or you can just wing it. But without testing, you have no proof of anything, and it's nothing more than a judgement call.

Speaking of that, what *is* the mfr's recommended oil interval for the S2000?

According to the Honda service manual.
7,500 miles under normal use.
3,750 under severe operating conditions. i.e. lots of short drives under 5 miles or dusty environments.

Re-visiting this, I like the way the engine revs after an oil change its just different it feels freer is that a word? Just changed it today so im all ready to go for the new season

Took it for a short 4 mile ride after, It will be a while before it goes out again the roads are horrible.
