Default Check engine light

my light came on this evening...i'm at 21000miles and the oil appears to be fine (due for a change in another 1000miles) and the coolant level is fine too. any thoughts??? i'm gonna bring it in hopefully soon....in the mean time, i'm not gonna drive it.

I wish I could help you ,but without scanning it it could be anything. Guessing is just going to waste your time .

Autozone will scan it for free

chek engine OR maintance required?

IF it's the check engine, bring your car to the local autozone - they can pull the code for free and reset the light -

maintance required is easy press and hold the trip reset with the key on - keep holding the trip reset turn the key off - hold for like ten seconds and turn the key back to the "on" postion

Scott's right, but just quickly check if your gas cap is on tightly. If not, that's probably why you'd get the check engine.

just checked the fuel cap and it wasn't completely tighted (not sure why b/c i'm anal about doing at least a few clicks)...so i got excited....started the car and the check engine light is still on. i let it run for a min and it never went off. i'm gonna call honda tomorrow....i wanted to get it in and get all the fluids changed anyway.
i hope its nothing.

Doesn't he still have to reset the light? Pulling the backup fuse to reset.

yup if it's the gas cap then it will take a few days BUT again he could go to autozone for FREE and they will pull the code, tell him what it means and reset the code... did i say they do this all for FREE??

or he could just pull the battery cable (have the radio card handy)

The dealeship will charge at least 90 bucks just to walk in the door

if it was me - i'd like to know what's causeing the CEL code before the stealership says "we think you need some headlight fluid and it costs 9 million dollars"
