Turn down the stereo!! I honked as I passed you. No reason for me to be in the middle lane except for you to see me and honk at you.

As for nitrogen, the only way to do that and have it be practical is to buy your own tank. Who wants to drive x number of miles each time they need to add a few PSI to their tires, and besides your tires will be hot by the time you get there. Sure nitrogen provides less fluctuation, but it isn't practical, nor will it improve your laps/auto x times at the level, budget etc you are driving at. o2 is cheap, free and easily accessible!

But according to DemonDerrick and the other ricers it adds +10hp and makes your car handle like a Ferrari!

Turn the stereo down your kidding right!!! I only get 1 station and it really doesn't get all that loud. Me fix that later. The truck must be to noisy for me to have heard.

My horn doesn't work.........well more than the tiniest of beeps and sometimes nothing at all. OH WELL. I can live without it.

Question for the board...............where is the FUEL FILTER? Never seen/heard about replacing that. A/C filter was replaced not all that long ago. Though.............think about it. Its a convertable.

The fuel filter is in the gas tank and only needs to be replaced when the fuel pressure falls below a certain psi, which I dont know the exact pressure offhand...its either in the owners manual or the Helm manual though. There is no time specific time period to replace the fuel filter, as far as I know, it just should be replaced when the pressure falls off to that specified limit.

I Just checked the ESM and it says to replace the fuel filter @ 63k miles...

Dana is right the fuel filter is located inside the fuel pump and the esm says to change it at 63k or when the pressure drops..

won't you need the horn to get an inspaction sticker??

the a/c filer is also used for your heat.. I looked at mine not too long ago and it was pretty bad 15K..

Guess I gotta find instructions on how to replace that bad boy...........hope it doesn't include taking out the tool tray! Going into spring..........I will change the filter at the end of the year going into winter.

Inspection? HAHHAHAA No place to get it inspected right now. I dunno if they even check that during a regular inspection.

Jim,

Since you say you will need a clutch in a year anyway, why not pick up an engine from a wrecked low mileage 2002 or 2003 and do what you want to that and when is all ready, just do an engine swap. You can take your time and buy parts and do the work as you get the money. You could remove the cylinder head, inspect the cylinders, do a nice valve job, put in better valves, maybe find someone that can do real headwork and polishing, add your cams, check the rod bearings and pistons, put on a lightweight flywheel and improved clutch...Or just go Turbo crazy!

I have seen 02 motors with less than 25,000 miles go for anywhere from $1500 to $2500 without trannies, which you don't need anyway. There is a whole 2002 driveline on E-bay right now.

This might be a good compromise between a 65k three year old car and a new car. Plus, when you are done, you could sell your old motor and get back some of the cost. Just my .02

Bill

That is a bit over my head right now...........if this engine shits the bed in ~50K MORE miles I might do just that and swap over the stuff that I did to this engine. Though I think thats a major project I am not gonna persue.
