And, If that theory were true, I would say that I would get pulled over alot too. Hawt car, hawt wife and I am not too old myself. And, I rarely drive where I work, so it's not like they know who I am. But, I haven't been pulled over in a long time...

I have only gotten pulled over for driving like an ass. But that's just me. 
Matt I would fight it. Is there any place where you can get your exhaust db level checked. I'm sure if you get it tested and bring the paper work into court they will dismiss it.

I got nailed in Mass. for my Invidia. There was a State policeman running laser on the interstate, standing in the woods when we went by. He pulled out after me and I knew I wasn't speeding because my V1 picked him up a long time before . He pulls up right behind me, no lights yet, and just kind of tails me for a minute. Then he pulls along side of me and paces me until he finally passes and pulls in front of me. He pulls into the break down lane so I'll pass his driver side window, the whole time matching my speed. Eventually, he lights me up, after easily three minutes of this. To make an already too long story short, he doesn't give me a ticket because I'm from out of state and he doesn't think he can enforce the Mass. exhaust law on a car from VT, since we don't have the stupid law yet.
P.S. To respond to Bass, I don't know if 34 counts as "older" but that's how old I was at the time. But maybe being older helped me to not get the ticket...

I don't know anything about the aftermarket exhausts, except to say I don't think I'd like a loud one making droning noise while we were cruising. I also don't know what's legal and what isn't. I'm not sure why cars get stopped and ticketed, when the motorcyle guys seem to be the biggest offenders.
We'll be out walking and have to stop our conversation when the Harley (and other) bikes go by with their loud exhausts. They are REALLY loud, and there are plenty of them.

Jim , I would think the same .
If your car is registered to Mass , I am not sure he can enforce a equipment violation in RI .
Now if he gave you a town ordnance fine for noise pollution well thats different .
This is what Manchester does , they found it was to hard to enforce the exhaust law while it was one word against another and to setup all the officers with test equipment was not worth it . So not the just fine you under the noise pollution law the starts at 10pm .

yeah I can't complain either...I usually earn my tickets. I've been let go twice for redlining 3rd gear in my audi which is in the low 90 mph range. MA cops are ok in my book. I feel like they aren't out to get us like they are in so many other states.
