The bubble will break. We could do more to make it break sooner, but the ecologists and "Big Oil" will not let the rest of the country do what it needs to do.

1. Nuclear power to meet all current and future electrical needs. Wind, solar and hydro can certainly be developed further, but let's cut the crap and build some nukes! This will help us convert some of the national fleet to electric cars.

2. Empower the Department of Energy to create a state owned and operated oil exploration, producing, refinement and delivery system to compete with the private sector.

3. Drill in Anwar. All Anwar oil is produced and delivered to consumers by the DOE.

4. Drill in the Gulf of Mexico and off of Florida - same ownership as 3.

DO IT!

I'm not worrying. I'll buy some biobricks or just heat with gas this winter. Either option won't kill me.

Bill, sounds like some great ideas. Too bad the oil companies and tree huggers (two traditional enemies) are unwittingly united to stop this from happening.

I'm sooooo happy I'm heated by natural gas, and I'm sporting a new 96.5 % efficient furnace.

Thanks Jeff, and it would not be all that hard to do. Nuclear has come a long way since three mile island. And the basic infrastructure for a chain of national gas stations is already in place. They are now called US Post offices. Put in some more tanks and automated pumps and off you go!

I have NG too. I have not checked the price lately. Are we saving all that much compared to oil?
