Default Finally, Rear Loop Speaker System

Finally put some time into completing this little project. I've been working on this for a few years now. I spent quite sometime just mocking it up with MDF then shelved the whole thing for a few years. I was originally inspired after seeing steve's old setup with the s-pods.

My need was basically to get some use out of the radio. I really don't even turn it on because I can't listen to it on the highway. I drive my S 100% top down so the radio doesn't get much use. Anyway back to topic. I had bought Boston Accoustics SX-50s a while back. They are 5 1/4 inch components. In addition I wanted to connect my MP3 player so I don't have to worry about dealing with CDs. I also wanted to keep the OEM radio at least for now.

I'll have to do a full writeup in Electronics forum once I am all done.

Here are some pics. More can be seen in my album - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=m...lbum=18756&st=0

Now for the passenger side next weekend.

Not yet. Only installed the drivers side. I'll do the passenger next weekend. What made it easy was the harness adaptor I bought from Cubs a while back that enabled me to connect rear speakers easily to the harness.

I also installed a PIE for the Microsoft Zune. No more CDs for me....

I am not expecting too much since I am still using the OEM H/U and no amp. But as long as it fills the cabin a little I will be happy enough.

I second the S-Pods. Get'em while Mike is still making them.

I just wanted to go a different route with displaying the speakers and crossovers. If I did it again I would of bought the S-pods. Definitely worth every penny.

If you get good componants and enough power behind them, you can hear the music fine even with the top down. I can have the top down doing 80 and still hear my music fine with the volume only at 70%. The gains on my amp are also only about half way up.

I have the OEM's on my '06. From what I have heard they are an improvement over previous years, but they need to be cranked up to hear them over the road noise. They definitely do not have the low bass that you get with after markets. I am generally very picky about my music and I have found that I need to keep the volume up to hear at speed especially with the top down. My wife prefers no music since I play it so loud.
