I will say this though, having lived for years across the road from the GM Alternate Fuel Research Facility in Honeoye Falls, NY, I can say I have seen hundreds upon hundreds of GM's EV1, and at least the Volt looks better than that thing...

I wish I could still buy a Honda Insight. Honda managed to discontinue it at just about the perfect time to avoid selling them like hotcakes.

Has anybody heard about the hearings on minimum noise standards for cars?
People are complaining about hybrids are too quiet and they don't hear them coming.
So they want them to make more noise.

People are stupid.
Erick is right...
Look how well those 2 girls made out on the RR tracks, last time I checked trains were loud as hell and they still got run over. It all comes back to the mentality of those girls walking in the street, they sould be smart enough to pay attention. But hey, if people can't pay attention I say we just run em over, that'll learn em.

Well part of that is because the IMA technology in the Insight is so antiquated. I believe it was a good thing to stop iproduction. The fugly Prius is giving Honda a big enough headache, they don't also need really old technology in a hybrid in the marketplace so the automotive journalists have even more fodder to use against them.

The newly un-named 5-door hybrid and the CR-Z will be here soon, not soon enough I might add, but at least there is hope on the horizon.

Well... then I wish they'd update the hybrid system and sell me the Insight still. I've looked at them a few times hoping to get a used one relatively cheaply. Now they are outrageously overpriced because of fuel crisis panic.

Honda is going to beat Toyota (and most everyone else) to the market with world class diesels... Hybrids have limited appeal due to the driving experience and the fear of replacing a $5000 battery over the course of ownership.

I suspect the whole battery issue is a big part of Honda's new IMA technology!

And I hear ya Erick, things that do well with fuel economy are bringing in big bucks. Look at rthe money people are getting on Geo's these days. WTF???

There is this little German company called Mercedes Benz. you may have heard of them but anyway, I think they sort of have a little lead on Honda here.
Next year they have a series of diesel hybrids coming out that are super efficient.
E class with 200+ hp and still 55 mpg.

I disdain Mercedes Benz. I know you love them and that's great, but when it comes to MB, I'm a hater...
