Default Good-bye, sweet Midnight

Today we said good-bye to a beloved family member, our 16-yr-old cat Midnight. During surgery today, the surgeon came out and delivered the bad news, that he was full of tumors, and that if he came home he would continue to not eat and his back legs would continue to collapse. We decided that, after the many wonderful years he had given us, it would be selfish and cruel to bring him home to that life, so we told her "Let him sleep", and we let him go.

Rest in peace, beautiful boy! See you on the other side!

Thanks "TheToon". Mid had gotten really smart in his old age. We had discovered a liver problem 4 years ago and since then he had been on a daily steroid so he felt like he was super cat! Of course it made him super hungry so at night he would come and wake me up with his paw. We then started closing the door, he started scratching it. We responded by using the water squirt bottle when we opened the door. He responded by scratching the door and then as soon as he heard us, he ran down the stairs. The final straw was he managed to get one of the other cats to scratch the door while he was at the bottom of the stairs! He also learn't to communicate what he wanted, water, food etc. - crazy smart. He was always the first to come to you when you felt bad and always the first to check out who was at the door or came into the house. He even took on a Rotweiller that came barking at the door!

He was 'da man' of the house - major respect!

Sorry to hear, Giles and Michele.

A loss of a pet is like the loss of a family member.

we had a great life with him too. When I first met Michele he was very protective of her but over the years he had learnt to accept me. At these end days we had a chance to hug him a lot and look deep into his eyes and really feel the love. These guys don't live long enough
