It doesn't sounds good....

Has he opened the hood himself to see if he can smell anything? Did he check the dipstick for oil or something mixing with the oil.. like say antifreeze...

It could be a number of things.

the ecu fuse is the same as the radio fuse - think it's a 7.5 under the dash
good to know,

too bad he cant get the cel code right there.

There is a way to check it with a paper clip counting the lights but if you dont know how to do it its fruitless

he had it filled recently - the guy accidentally put in lower octane. that won't cause this.

Map wack , reset battery and check for vacuum leaks . If none of the above work tow it


Definitely check the oil

If it is blinking continuously, STOP and DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR!! A flashing CEL can be indicative of something catastrophic going on, and continued use of the engine or driving the car could exacerbate the problem and make the costs to repair it grow into a HUGE amount!
