so $30 of 89? isn't it obvious that before he gas'd up he was fine...then he put crap gas and now he's ####ed?

*not meaning luis gas'd it up with that crap, meant the idiot kid who worked at the station*
i agree with mike - gas no matter what grade wont kill the car - it might make it ping a little but not ruin it

The octane would not cause the car to run like this, but water or other crap in the gas might have.
correct, but heed what scott says. This if fuel is what it is a severe case of bad fuel. Never heard of it that bad b4 especially from a modern gas station.

The car pulls tons of timing combined with high temps and poor fuel can most definitely make the car run like crap .

that being said - Scott knows more about this engine than everyone so i'd take his advise

Ping is also known as detonation and knock and can most definitely cause damage . It the old days of Iron blocks and pistons you might have survived , but not in a Aluminum piston and aluminum cyl world . If severe enough you can crack a ring land , beat on the bearings till you loose oil pressure and toss a rod . I have had two bone stock cars in the shop this year with holes in the block .

Without being there I cant say if he is severe or not , but with out the pros and cons being said he cant point the finger if there is a failure either
