We have done a lot of weeding, but this year, we put down some mulch. It helps kill them off. If you use chemicals to kill weeds, you'll kill the good stuff too.

We've got a little claw type hand tool that helps yank them up.

No to roundup, unless you want to kill everything in there.

You know that expression you use on kids. "you're growing like a weed"? Well there's a reason for that saying. Those damn weeds grow while you are having lunch, you pull them out, and they're back after dinner.

It's something you have to stay on top of. If it's a large area buy some mulch, as I said, that will help keep them down.

Maybe NL's brother can drop off a yard or two of it . It makes the garden area look more finished too. Any tomatoes yet? Did you get pepper plants too this year? Did they survive?

If you use mulch, be sure to put at least 3" down, that will stop the weeds from growing through.

Where you will apply the round up is not near the veggies is it?

If not, after the Round Up, may I suggest a rock garden in that area? Very easy to maintain, no weeds.

Easy to maintain, eh? I like the sound of this, "rock garden" thing.

Yep. My NH sis just decided less yard work was better and recently yanked up many of her flower beds and put down rock.

It's not for me, but it would be great for "gardeners" like you and Bass.
