Ed!

Mom uses XP, but for the most part, works strictly from desktop, and icons. Any other clicking, clean up etc. set up, is done my my siblings and me. I think moving on to Windows 7 will work, though I can specify XP if the computer is purchased from Dell.

As to the AOL, I guess I can download the latest version? I have a disc of one of the earlier versions, not sure if it would work if the new computer has Windows 7. Anyone have .02 on that?
you should be able to download Win7 Compatible version.

I think I found a link for that.

Once I decide on the computer, I think I'll have a bit of work to do for her. She likes her settings "just so" and it makes it easier for her.

If it's not set up right, and she has a problem, I'll get a phone call........"Hello? I can't get on line!!""

After a few phone calls and a little assist from one of my sisters (getting another discount), we ordered Mom a Dell, with a monitor for $470.00.

We went with 3 gb vs 4, but it had a larger hard drive. For $20.00 more than the Best Buy sale item, we got the same model computer and the monitor. I think it will be more than adequate for her needs.

My sister and I spoke briefly about switching Mom to a lap top but agreed, the desktop was the better choice.

If she ever wants light portability, a net book is an option. I love mine!

Thanks for the input/suggestions.

Lainey, if you have any challenges getting this one shipped, etc...

Let me know.

(If that doesn't elude to my employer. )

Thank you! So far so good. The sales rep was great. We had also ordered Mom an inexpensive new printer then realized it was too big for her computer desk, and she doesn't have much room.

I was able to cancel the printer with no issue.
