Default New Softtop Installation

Hey guys, I recently got a tear on my soft top and got about $2000 from my insurance to cover the costs. They recommended me to Allston Auto Tops @ about $1080 for labor. I was going to go OEM for a new top @ $800 from Hardtopguy and not wanting to go with Robbins' cheaper price.

Does anyone recommend Allston Auto Tops or another place cheaper w/o skimming on quality or service? Thanks in advance for your opinions guys. And also a hardtop is not an option.

I cant advise you on what top to get but I can advise you to read this thread regarding the vendor you may want to purchase it thru. Than make your decision.

Is it a tough install? I was actually debating doing this myself.
I'm pretty handy, I wouldn't say engine swap handy, but I've done some stuff..

Anyone ever done it themselves?

I will buy from Jeff HTG again, but not any time soon. Once he gets the shipping and turn over rate straightened out then I will have no problem contributing again. Till then I will be buying my parts wholesale from dealership I work at.

if you have't than how can YOU speak for Hardtopguy's service?? or even post in that link?? was it to cause trouble?? i know i know - your standard response "i can post anywhere anything i want" and you sure can

BUT AGAIN HOW CAN YOU SPEAK FOR HARDTOPGUY'S SERVICE IF YOU NEVER PURCHASED ANYTHING??

- just don't like to see anyone bad mouth a TRUE ASSET to nes2ko and s2ki.. you can post links where some had issues and i can say that the guy is TOP NOTCH - and i would venture to say that MOST everyone here will say the same

i have purchased many things from HTG and his service been a second to none not only that but i am pretty sure he sponsered (gave stuff away) to your NES2KO events

bad mouth a vendor who helps nes2ko when you are the ME nes2ko rep and i can assure you - he may not be as willing to sponser another nes2ko event
