how did you get the insurance co. to pay for your top?
My insurance company told me that they'll take care of it. Does this seem abnormal?

The guys at Allston Auto Top quoted me a couple $$ less for an OEM top than what hardtopguy does on his website.

My question is does anybody know, by experience, of a reputable body shop near Boston that charges less for labor without sacrificing quality and service? I think by searching the forums now that $1080 seems fair right? Also thanks for your previous input guys!

I bought my car from Joe (user name dlaio) who replaced the original top with a Robbins. Unfortunately, I don't know specifics, but he did say that while it was very time consuming, it wasn't especially difficult to do. Joe's rather busy, so I don't know if he will see this post or not... but maybe try sending him a PM.

So if you have the time, it sounds like you're handy enough to do the work yourself. That's the only reason the price tag is so high... just a lot of hands-on time.

Also, for what its worth, the Robbins top has been great for me. I never owned the car with the OEM top w/plastic window that my '00 came with, but if I didn't know differently, I'd believe the Robbins was OEM quality any day. It now has the glass window, non-defrosted. Until 2 months ago, the car lived outside (winters included), and the top is still in great shape.
