Yeah, I went with the 35mm simply because the smaller DX sensor on the entry level Nikon SLRs means a more 'zoomed in' image. 50mm would give too narrow a field on that camera to practically use indoors - 50mm on a DX looks like a 75mm on a full frame camera, where the 35mm looks like 53mm.

The nice thing, though, is that after I got those 3 lenses, I've had little desire to buy anything else. I was concerned like any other habit, I'd want more and more accessories, but I'm surprisingly satisfied.

Of course, Fall Crawl in the fall, but I'm not even thinking about Fall. That would be too depressing!

if that should be on my list too.

Any of you guys ever bought this kind of filter? Hoya close up filters that I use when I either don't have my macro lens with me, or just because the effect is a little different.

These are essentially magnifying glasses for your camera. The set I have has three different magnification "powers" and you can stack them together for maximum impact. Be aware though that this also decreases the image quality especially around the edges.

Of course, you can't get the life size (or near life size) images that you can with a macro lens, but it work well in a pinch!

They showed us these at the camera class. Worth the $ to take flower pics if no macro is in the budget yet?

COM Sports Car Club is having a 2 day event (driver's school and time trials) in May using the main track at Summit Point Raceway in WV. Put in a rollbar and you're good to go.

The best lens to photograph people is about 100 mm. You have to get too close to the subject with a 35mm, intimidating them.

I like my 50mm 1.8 (Canon), but prefer the longer lens for that purpose, shooting at widest aperture when I can.

I got my wife the Nikon 105 f2.8 VR.
simply stunning. also works well for correct depth of field to give complementary facial definition.

What's with thread titles starting with 'OFFICIAL'??

Are there more than one of that subject matter that one would need to make the differentiation?? And, if there were, the first thread wouldn't need to have an 'official' title because it was simply first; in that case, the next thread, even if it were labeled 'official', wouldn't be the official thread being the second or later.

Does the title make people want to post in it versus the others? Why not create subject matter that would make people just want to post in it, making it the most popular.

Something I was pondering.

I think I'll change the title of this thread

well the other day I was behind a Webb plumbing supply truck.
It turns out they are the Official plumbing distributer for the Boston Red Sox. who knew??

so I'm guessing "OFFICIAL" means you coughed up some money for the title.

Yeah, in advertising... You see their logos all over.
