Default Possibly moving

As the subject says, I might be moving to Beverly, MA within the next few months. I've only been out there once before, and while I'll have a bit of time to spend house-hunting, I'd like to know if anyone here can help with a few places I should look at.

I'm looking for a 2 bedroom house/apt with a garage large enough for my S and a bike (not that it should be a problem for an avg sized garage...).

Don't do it.

Mass is the armpit of the country. Stay far away!

I grew up in Salem, MA (right next door). Definitely making a comeback. I loved it there. Good luck in your search!

Hi Sputnik. Your screen name is funny.

Mass is a great place to live and work, but many who can't make it here move to NH and then call the people from Massachusetts names. It is funny really, because without Massachusetts NH would have to close up and move to upstate NY to leach off of Manhatten. The whole state of NH bases its economy on finding ways to steal money from Massachusetts. My son lives there now and that is the only reason I go there. You really have to watch the speed limit in NH because their Staties are under orders to ticket every person with a Mass Lisence plate going 5 mph over the speed limit. No kidding. You can be in traffic with a crowd doing 70 in a 60 and the Statie will pull you over out of the whole group because of the Mass lisence plate. That's just one example, I could go on and on.

Anyway, you might want to tell us more about your move. Where will you be working? How long of a commute you can tolerate, etc. Then we can better recommend areas for you to think about.

New England is a wicked funny place. A bunch of tiny little states all up in each other's kool aid. I lived in NH and MA for 21 years. Some facts according to me which are 100% totally unbiased and true:

MA:

Crazy drivers, I mean totally insane. They drive in the breakdown lane and don't see a problem with that.
Taxes, taxes, taxes!
You have to go there to do anything interesting that doesn't involve the great outdoors, sports, shows, nightlife, etc.
The People's Republic of Massachusetts will tax you out of house and home.
Did I mention taxes?
Potholes that will eat your S2000 whole.
You may, no, you will be killed by falling cement. It's only a matter of time.

NH:

One of the lowest overall tax burdens in the country.
Every outdoor amenity God could think of (mountains, forests, ocean, lakes, rivers, etc).
Beautiful.
Nice people.
Used to have their political head on straight but that is changing.
Two floor Super Target FTW!
Parker's Maple Barn FTW too.

Both:

Not nearly enough blonds, especially for someone from ASU.
Winter is bullshit.
You will actually appreciate sunny days instead of expect them.
Speed traps everywhere.
Awesome twisty roads, just watch for pavement quality.
Less Mexicans but more Puerto Ricans.
Rich people have in-ground pools but everyone has a basement, usually referred to as the cellah. (in AZ everyone has a pool but rich people have basements)
You must sprinkle the word "wicked" liberally into all your conversations. i.e. "Shoveling snow sucks wicked baaaaad." or "My car has a wicked huge rust hole in it."

Enjoy.
