hey mike I'm working on my deck and trying to get the plans for the stairs done right.
So my kid got a copy of pro-desktop which is a stripped down version of PRO-E from his high school.
it's legitimate. it's part of the high school program PTC has.
it's disgusting to watch him fly through it.

Does he have any plans to go into engineering at all after high school?
technically he'll be a physics major this fall, but wants to do game development.
he not aware of it yet but he's genetically predispositioned to engineering.
and this too, shall come to pass.
but he needs to find his way home.
as an engineer you'll probably understand this, but he sees the obvious that the others don't if you know what I mean.
OK so this is where the deck stairs frame design is right now.
I did most of the design work but #2 son did the cad work with Pro Desktop which is the student version of ProEngineer.
I have my vital dimensions and most of my support structures.
We only have to set the dimensions of the supports and concrete.
We're just rebuilding what was there originally but doing it right this time
you can see what it looked like in the lower before demolition.
