Write protect...the camera will tell you it can't write to the card. To be sure look at teh edge of the card opposite the cut ou. the non-write protected position is pushed towrds the contacts.
My guess is your four year old caera can't read the type of card or as mentioned can't deal with 2 gb.
You can't put the card in backwards, however.

Yeah, I think 2GB is likely too much for the older cameras.

My camera is obsolete.

Vintage pal, Canberra/Roy led me to the answers.

As suspected, the type M or Type H camera card is not compatible with my camera.

If you have an Olympus, here's a web site that tells you which ones will work with your camera.

Olympus

Did you give me a link too?

I thank EVERYONE for their contributions and suggestions for my camera card issue, especially Jerry/boltonblue!

Edit: Ordered two of the 512MB cards on line. Not so easy to find anymore. Kind of like looking for music on and 8 track.

They didn't pop up when I searched.

Rick just told me he should have married you instead of me as you are a much better shopper.

Just looked, I paid $8.00 each at officemax.com, buy.com showed 25+ each and no stock. I guess I did OK..how do you get them free? Or was that the Erick special?
