Ah, now I'm finally figurin' out what you all look like.

And as for weddings, I just got married in August of '07, with 165 ppl there. I don't know the true exact cost to everyone involved (partly my wife and I, partly my parents, and mostly my in-laws) but it ended up somewhere around $25k.

The more interesting thing was that $25k was incredibly cheap for a Fairfield County wedding. Heck, it was cheap for a wedding that size in most places for 2007. There's just no way around it. Most banquet halls are at least $50+ a plate, and there's tax and tip on top of that. So you're already over $10k on food alone.

The whole wedding thing is a machine. Your only real choices are to either participate or not. You can change some variables, but you can't really chose to do it your own way. If I had a choice to do it my own way, we would have had a BBQ on the beach with bottled beer & wine. Sure, it woulda been weather dependent, but it would have been a whole lot cheaper and just as fun.

Oh well. My in-laws could have bought a car for what they spent, but then again, I have to remember I can't go comparing everything to cars!
