No experience here, sorry Pinky. I would like to know the outcome though. May pick up an extended if I decide to keep the car and not trade it for a later model.

It always bugs me when I pay for a service and then have to manage some aspect of the project, like parts logistics. Jeeez.

You should hear the story of the ashtray the dealer included for my car. You woulda thought I was ordering a custom body kit.

I had extended hondacare warranty on my prelude that I traded in for the s2k at (96000 miles). I don't have the contract anymore, but here's the deal:

* The warranty is as good as your factory warranty, so if it's covered under factory warranty (see manual) it's covered under extended warranty.

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

* If your car needs to be at the dealership overnight (a day), you are elligible for a rental but don't expect a nice car (they pay like $35 something).

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

* Why go to bernardi's? Try Curry in Chicopee (near springfield mass). Its much closer to you and their service dept is way better than Bernardis. I had many things fixed on my prelude from them that bernardi's, hondavillage & lundgren refused to acknowledge as a problem and just charged me $80 for nothing! :-(

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

* The last item replaced on my prelude was the entire 4 struts and curry did it while the rest even refused to accept there's anything wrong with it. This is a very tricky thing to prove and I basically did not give up and kept going back to them. Finally they sent me out for a ride with their chief tech and he felt what I was talking about. The problem with bernardi is they have too much business these days and don't really car about customers anymore.

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

* Once the dealership accepts that there's a problem they will call hondacare and verify if it's covered - they don't really care about the contract and need an authorization from honacare for major fixes.

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

* You should not have to pay for *ANYTHING* including diag fee if a fault is found that's covered under warranty. However, if they don't find anything wrong, they'll charge you for diag. Curry was very nice in this regards, unlike bernardi and hondavillage (who made my pay $80 for diag fee for a bad O2 sensor even after replacing it under warranty!!!).

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

* It is not a bad idea to confirm before you take the car it that the parts are there. Service and parts are seperate depts and sometimes (depending on the dealership) they may not be communicating very well. However you should not have to call the parts dept to oder for parts at all!! The parts dept at curry even send me a postcard when the struts were in, even though the service dept had already confirmed and given me an apt.

* HondaCare & honda dealerships SUCKS!

Sorry, but i really had a bad experience with most honda dealerships and do not recommend that anyone buy an extended warranty from HondaCare cause you're basically stuck with working with a honda service dept and they're mostly A**H***

Good luck!

Well my contract is through Western National. I am going to Bernardi's because they have worked on quite a few S2000's which I can not say is true for many others! Even if they are a good dealership they may not have done many cars.

I have had sometime to research this stuff. It has a variable deductable and has a max of 100. They pay 25 bucks towards a rental but said they usually give you the car for 25 or ~30 a day. So its very little out of pocket.

Only thing thats going to bother me is they are going to have to take the car out for a drive to reproduce the vibrations. Since I will have to drop the car off at a time when there will not be a mechanic on duty. I don't want to know how many miles they are going to tack onto the car!

Well, good luck!! Here's what I see happening when you take the car back from them, they'll just tell you "cannot reproduce vibrations". I wouldn't worry about them putting miles on the car, don't think the'll abuse it. It's always better to be there when the mechanic drives the car so you can show him exactly what is it that you're complaining about. Tell them to give you a call if the mechanic does not find anything wrong and then talk to the mechanic and try to explain on the phone so you won't have to waste another trip.

Keep us posted!
