Sub not working while bridged
Well, I spent most of the day finally finishing the install of my stereo system, but the subwoofer is not working. Please help.
I have RCA channels on the left and right sub output from the deck to channels 3 and 4 of the amp. Then I have the positive wire coming from the sub in channel 3 and the negative in channel 4. No sound or anything. I move the negative from channel 4 to channel 3 and I can barely hear the subwoofer but can feel it receiving power from just touching it. Are my connections correct? Is there any switch or something I didn't do? The subwoofer option on the deck is turned on.
The subwoofer is a DVC so it has a wire from + to - leaving another + and - to connect to the amp.

I have the Alpine 9887 deck with Alpine pdx 4.150 amp. How do I check resistence? I think it might have started working this morning but I couldn't really tell. I'll look at it again after work.
Alright , so I asume you are running it in 3 channel mode . 2 channels to the front speakers and the other two bridged to the sub ?

So the specs of the amp say you can run each channel in either 2OHM or 4OHM . But when you run bridged you can only run it in 4OHM .
Do you know what impedance the sub is ? You said it was a Dual coil sub correct . I need to know the Impedance of each coil . To tell you how to wire it properly . Depending on the Impedance will tell me if you can run it Bridged or not .
If it is a Dual 8OHM or 2OHM you can run bridged and I will tell you how to wire for each . If it is a Daul 4OHM you cannot run Bridged , and will have to run each coil to one channel . If you have to run this way just make sure your sub channel on the deck is outputting a MONO output .

Ok this is what I know. The sub is a JL 10" W3v2 D-6. Also heres a link to the spec sheet/owners manual on JL

Nominal Impedance is stated at Dual 6 Ohm
Also looking at the above picture I was confused when I looked at it at my house. Do I need to buy a Y splitter RCA? I see that theres one connection from the output deck sub RCA that leads to a Y splitter RCA that connects to both channels 3 and 4.
I currently have 1 rca channel in left sub output, and 1 in right sub output, those are then connected to channels 3 and 4.
I think just from the JL manual sheet, the reason my power is so low is because im trying to run them at 12 Ohms from the way the wiring looks. Am I correct about that? I should be running them parallel at 3 Ohms right?
Thanks alot for the help twiztid

I didnt look at the spec sheet of the amp but Twiztid said it can only run at 4ohm bridged so it looks like you have no other choice but to do that because running it at 3 ohms will damage the amp.

you can try running the coils in parallel . Some amps will allow 3OHM the amp will go into protection if it is to much . Just turn the gain down so you dont drive the amp to hard .
best option is to grab a JL mono amp
