Default Sub not powering on

Hey guys, so my sub only kicks in when I turn the volume up really high. 85% or so. If the volume is low or moderate it won't kick in at all. Any ideas? I'm puzzled.

Make sure the remote turn on wire is securely fastened and is making a good connection to your Amp.

I'll check all the wires going into the app and make sure they are snug. Should I wiring anywhere else?

Are you using a factory or aftermarket deck?

I'm using an Alpine deck with Alpine sub. Everything works great except for this strange issue.

Alpine deck - ida X301 (I think. 1st gen I believe)
Alpine Mono Amp - Can't remember the model

When the amp is not playing is it powered on and the sound is just not playing or is the amp off completely?
