Default Tire Recommendations

I about to pick up a set of RPF1's without tires. I need help picking out tires though. The last few tire purchases, I basically had one thing on my mind. CHEAP. (These were not for the S2000!)

I don't want to insult my s2000 by getting the cheapest tires possible. What are some good tire brands/models that won't kill me. Looking to spend around 5-600 give or take.

Hankook Ventus V12 Evos are pretty good all around and are in your price range ($538 shipped in CR sizing). If you were shopping this past weekend, you could have had an additional $40 off. Other similar tires in this category are the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 and the Falken FK452, but I have no direct experience with them. You could also consider the Falken RT-615K. They're a bit above your budget ($660 in CR sizing), but are a decent dry tire and ok wet tire.

Next category up in my opinion are the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs/Yokohama AD08/Bridgestone RE-11 class of tire, but they're above of your budget.

Do you want extreme performance and ~10k miles per set, or good performance and 15+k miles per set. That will influence what we recommend.

15k miles I guess. I don't track or autox. Spirited cruise from time to time.

I love my star specs. Call tire city in east hartford, they are pretty cheap.

X2 on the star specs. I've also heard excellent things about the hankook v3 I believe they are, similar performance cheaper price tag. I always order from tirerack.com and go pick them up in Windsor Locks.

Star specs are heavily underused on a large majority of the cars running them. I just picked up a set of Hankook Ventus V12's myself and the reviews really sold me. Also have a look at Sumitomo HTR Z3.

The Hankook Ventus are definitely the best bang for the buck.

These were offered to me as the best deal at Town Fair Tire
