Default Tommy!

OK Lets say I'm paying cash for a new car in CT but I live in MA.

DO I get a CT title from the dealer?

OR do I get a Certificate of Origin that I'll use to get the title from my state of residence?

Are you registering the vehicle? If so, dealer would fill out the old RVM 1 form and registration would be in MA..... if not registering, how will you get vehicle from CT to MA?

The title is issued received 6 - 8 weeks after the car is registered. So the car would be registered in MA the title would be issued out of MA (DMV) after the dealer completes all necessary paperwork on his end (CT).

I would imagine the dealer would need to fill out the registration paperwork required for the GT-R () the CA buyer is purchasing. Which I believe would be an RMV-1 along with whatever else the DMV in CA needs. Does CA issue temp tags? If that's the case the buyer could then bring the temp tags with them.

The title would still be issued upon registration in the state the owner resides.

I THINK that you could buy the car is MA and just register it in CA. To my recollection there is no requirement that you register a car here, or that you have to have the car with you to register it in CA.

Just make sure the dealer doesn't try to sock you for a "document fee" when they are not generating an RMV-1 and whatnot.

Still gotta get it from point A (MA) to point B (CA) might have to register it here, unless buyer can transfer a plate/registration?

If purchased in MA, and buyer is in RI, dealer could drive car to RI on dealer plate and deliver there for registration.

BUT I assume we are not talking about the typical sale....this is your place in line thing?
