Doug, are you aware of other groups who run the Glenn that would let us participate?
The Glen's final schedule is yet to be posted, so it's a bit tough to really answer that question with a definative answer. However, I can say this, in the past I have only know 2 oprganizations that let S2000's in, (well 3 but to get into a Porsche Club of America event you have to actually own or have owned a Porsche), one is SCDA the other is NASA.

Here is the web site for NASA, you will have to do the non-rollbar research yourself, they have allowed S's in the past, but each new year brings new rules. http://www.nasaproracing.com/hpde/index.html

And so we are all 100% clear- I'm not endorsing NASA in any way shape or form. I know nothing about the organization and who runs it and their safety protocal; I only know they exist and offer schools at The Glen.

In regards to SCDA, 2008 will be my 4th year teaching for Ian and his group. SCDA puts on a great school, and I support them fully.

I'd love to make the hard top/roll bar requirement. However, I refuse to put a roll bar in my daily driver. I personally feel the increased risk of head injury during a non-rollover accident is too great.
And I always reply the same way to these points of view, in many ways you are right, however, for my life the S with a rollbar is still safer than my motorcycle, and I refuse to hide in the closet afraid to come out and play, so I love my motorcycle and my custom rollbar.

I would definitely have a roll bar if I had the money for the new opportunities it would open up for tracks (Lime Rock), not to mention I think it's pretty damn hot looking too But unless I win the lottery this year, it ain't gonna happen in the foreseeable future.

I can't wait for April

Doug what did you think about posting my original message into the upstate forum? Any of your guys interested in this (other than the couple I already know who are)? You have some new people the last couple months...

And that's why Doug is going to be in NH on August 18th for our Nor'Easter track day

The two most significant events for me (most learned, best improved speed, etc) were the two times I had an instructor who drove an S2000. It really does make a big difference.

Not that the other 2 guys were bad - not at all - but my second instructor especially did not recognize what the S could do and held me back. I was also not impressed that he did not have a radio.

So unless you have some real and serious suggestions on where to magically make the roll bar or hard top or $2-3,000 appear - it ain't going to happen any time soon.
I'd be willing to let you borrow my HT, if you get your own hardtop hardware (latches), but that will run you about 500. Otherwise I'll have to figure out a place to store it come springtime and I wont need it back till fall. PM me if you'd like to work something out.

Hey Kenta, that's really nice! Black would look SWEET on my Silverstone I still have an "in" at one Honda dealership... I will check and see what kind of price I could get the hardware for.

I could send you pics of all the places your top goes this summer

And it will look great sitting in the middle of my living room/office during the times I don't use it at the track I'm using my helmet as part of my "home decor" now.
