Actually... It's silverstone, so it will sort of match. I wouldn't need it back till fall as I'm going to bring it somewhere to get sprayed Berlina Black to match my car. Right now it looks kind of silly.

Anyway, I live in a townhouse condo with a crawlspace basement so when I take it off it's either going to have to sit in my dining room or I'll have to bring it at my parents house (I'm sure they'd love that). I'd rather have it go to good use and get track day pictures

Like I said, you'll need the hardware, but if you plan to get a HT eventually then you'll have to take the plunge anyway.

NASA accepts the S2000 roll hoops as adequate protection for HPDE events. (Trust me, I looked everywhere in the NASA rulebook before deciding to forgo the roll-cage). Either the NASA or SCCA rulebook used to (last year, I think) actually point out the S2000 as having an example of adequate roll-hoops.

Cool a Silverstone - even better! Means I will enjoy it more when it's taking up the ONLY floor space in my very small apartment

Or maybe I will rearrange the bedroom and put it there, first thing I see when I wake up in the morning I'll find out Monday or Tuesday about the mounting kit price. I think I can get the stuff for 10% over dealer cost... if so that should drop the price significantly, maybe even something I can afford this year.

And yes I DO plan to buy a H/T someday regardless, it's only a matter of time. I'll have my car until they bury me, hopefully MANY years from now

Great to know, thanks!

I think I'm going to go with the Mugen hardtop. Just need to wait till I can afford to order the hardtop, hardware, and have it sprayed...

NASA does require the top to be up at all times on the track (protection from flying debris). NASA rulebook: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf

Top UP?! WTF? NEVER! Good to know, thanks. With a hard top that would not matter of course but I only need that for Lime Rock running with SCDA.

Can't see worth a crap with the top up and I am always much faster with it down Oh and once I had my own fan club at NH - I was really fast that day

From some discussions I've seen, it appears that the S is actually more aerodynamic with the top down (lower coefficient of drag with top down vs top up). Really, you set the mirrors and get used to it. Shouldn't need to know what's going on so much behind you, only that there's someone there.

Of course, remember that HPDE events are not timed, and are not competition. They are Driving Education events, concentrated on providing opportunities to further improve one's street and track driving abilities...

I waited many years and pay alot of money every month to have a convertible - I like to get the full affect of top down every possible chance

I'm faster with top down because I'm happier - and so is the car

You are right it does not matter so much on track the visibility, just a habit from street driving the "need to know it all"

LoL...that's the same reason I can't bear to think of putting the S into storage all winter long. I've worked too hard to be able to afford it to just put it away in storage allll winter. Just have to budget an extra however much it costs to wash it weekly/whenever I drive it (after I get my truck up north).

Someone in the NY forum had a good question...

>>> This sounds like something I might be interested in. Is there a site that discribes the event in detail?

I thought I would post the reply here as well... things are easier to try/do when you know what to expect in advance!

Essentially you will have (4) 20 minute sessions on track, you will have an instructor as long as you are in the novice group. They will teach you the line for the track some basics in the beginning and more advanced concepts later on.

You also have class room time where they go over more concepts - flags, turn in points, track out, etc - all stuff you need to know before you are turned loose out there

Check out my S enthusiast site: http://teamtadashi.com

I started this when I got my car - There's some fluff in there but it does convey the excitement
