Default Tragedy strikes my S2000 =(

So saterday I decided to do my spring oil change on the S2000. I removed the drain plug and out came all the oil into my drain pan. I finished up my oil change and as I was going to drain my pan into my used oil container, to my suprise, there was metal shavings all in my oil! Looked like a manual transmission fluid change after 200k miles! All metallic and swirly looking. So i grabbed a 5 quart container and filled it up with my used oil, to find only 2 1/2 quarts came out!
I had just checked my oil before I parked it for the winter and it was at the full mark. In total Ive put about 500 miles or so on the car since that oil check. So somewhere in those 500 miles, I went through 2 and 1/2 quarts of oil. Theres zero oil residue or signs of leaking.
So at this point, Im just going to continue driving the car, and wait for failure, hoping it never happens. And if it does, Ill be replacing the longblock with whatever used one I can find. Then this one will go into frankensteins shop for rebuilding for turbo

Were you driving it all winter long? How'd the oil pressure light not come on with half the amount of oil?!

If it was me I would go to autozone and pick up a magnetic drain bolt. do a oil change then drive it for awhile then do another oil change and see how much flakes come out.

If the car sat for awhile, this is not unusual as oil will settle into other areas within the engine. One of the reasons why cold starts can actually cause damage to an engine.

I drove it about 500 total miles this winter so i didnt drive it all winter long.

Im going to change the oil again in 1000 miles and Im already one step ahead of you on the magnetic drain plug. So far so good though its been about 250 miles and my oil level is still at the full mark, oil is nice and clean, Ill know when I drain it though if theres any actual damage.
