It's official.

1) I'm a procrastinator and finally did my taxes today

2) By my estimation, getting married cost us about $750 more than living in sin.


They don't call it the marriage penalty tax for nothin'

 

I got all my tax ducks in a row today. Wrote out checks, made sure copies of forms were with other forms. Not much fun but necessary.

 

I did mine on Sunday. Then I celebrated by going out for Mexican food with some friends.

 

Wow! Aren't you getting a refund? Why wait so long for your money back???

 

Ahh the wedded bliss ends with the IRS, the good news is if your getting a refund this year they are very fast in getting it to you! I mailed mine in and had my refund deposited in my account 8 days from the mail date

 

we had ours done before the end of february but they don't get mailed til next week.
leave that money in my account as long as possible.

 

I hope I get my $600 quickly. Maybe I'll spend some at the track

Just about every year I do my return as soon as humanly possible since I want my money for other things. This year, I decided that my refund would be enough to pay for a turbo kit. When Scott posted his sale on turbo kits, I still did not have everything I needed to do taxes, so I charged it. My plan was to just quickly do my taxes and not pay any interest. I think what happened next was I did my taxes online, but for some reason it thought I was a business owner... so it wanted to charge me 3x the amount to file them online. Discouraged by this, I just put them aside. When it came time to pay the credit card bill, I pulled some money from my emergency savings account. At that point, there was really no motivation to get them done quickly since I'd just be replacing money in an emergency account. To me it was just money on paper at that point... so I waited until someone called me up Saturday and pressured me to get them done.
