Default Window Tint...

So I'm considering getting the Subaru's windows tinted... rear side doors, rear sides, and rear tailgate.

CT's laws are 35% net for the sides (unlimited for back) but I don't really know how that compares to what I see on vehicles out on the roads.

Since most SUVs have darkened glass on everything behind the driver, does anyone know what % that typically is? That's what I'm going for.

5% tint those!!!

on my integra and s2000 i use 20% all around. if you get the subaru tinted, go to Tint My Ride in uncasville. they opened up a new shop in new london. just find out which shop Kenny (the owner) is at. he does a great job at tinting IMO. he's done all my cars

Most that you see on SUV and Trucks from the factory are going to be right around 20%. Keep in mind that the front windows usually come lightly tinted from the factory so even if your putting 20% on the front its actually going to be lower than that due to the factory tint already present.

I'm not planning on doing the front doors, I was going for the SUV look. I don't really understand how they can sell a car new from the factory with %s lower than legal, but you can't tint 'em yourself to that same level.

We have an '08 Outback, and I want to have the same tint as the new 2010 Outback came from the factory with.... but as I understand, it's illegal.

I just don't get why, according to my interpretation of CT's 35% tint laws, it would be illegal for me to tint my windows to the levels that the new models are sold with at the dealer.

I'm not particularly concerned with getting busted about it, but I just don't really get how that works.

If you notice the tint is always back seat and back. The reason they do not want tint more front of that is so that a LEO can observe you thru the glass upon approach to the vehicle. It has nothing to do with your sight out of the vehicle it has to do with LEO's view into the vehicle.
