Default Winter Project started...

Decided to put the car 'away' for the rest of the year this week. Just haven't had a chance to drive it since Fall Crawl and the coming weeks don't look promising either

Had some free time so I decided to get ahead start on my winter project. Seats, Harnesses, semi-gutted interior, and Rollbar... So I gutted the interior in preparation...

3hrs later, 138lbs lighter...

I have always liked the look of a gutted interior and 2 of my 3 past Civics I have gutted. The S looks good stripped down a bit... I have an idea for a cleaner center console and thinking about a solid lower door card set-up. My hope is by the time I am done, I will have shaved at least 30lbs out of the car not to mention make my wife at bit displeased with me

I personally hate gutted interiors, too much NVH. The look isnt bad though.

The S is already a tin can on wheels. I sure hope you track that S and arent just doing it for "street cred".

^ I think it is a feasible goal. Figure I took out 138lbs between seats, trim, carpet, factory hoops, belts, etc... Basically allowing me to add back 108lbs to the car... Biggest ones will be the seats and the roll bar. I know the seats are 15lbs lighter then the factory set-up at 50lbs, leaving me 58lbs to put back. Figure the harnesses come in around 8lbs, down to 50lbs... I am sure the roll bar is heafty but 50lbs? I would guess 40 tops... I think it is an achievable goal. But as the project goes we will see how well what I think aligns with reality...

Also I am on a diet and exercise program so I fit in the seats a bit better I have packed on more then a few pounds over the past years some where in the neighborhood of 30lbs ...

I actually can't track the car in stock trim with local clubs, I am to tall to pass a broom stick test... I am getting the car trackable as a winter project (seats/harness/roll bar)to run with area clubs, so yes the hope is the car will be tracked a few times a year... so not for "street cred" as you put it... My previously gutted cars, well they were just because I liked it, just added to the driving experience with the raw feel and sound that came with it..

Now that you will have a rollbar, you can attend the Driver's Schools and Time Trials that the COM Sports Car Club (COMSCC.org0 put on at varoius roadracing trackes from Summit Point to Mossport.

^ That's my hope Grove!

Little update... I wasn't able to attend the Fender Rolling Day Jesse set-up... On call for work all morning so I couldn't stray far from the house... Wouldn't you know they never called

But I spent a bit of time getting the SRS light disabled from removing the stock seatbelt retractors. A little help from Neutered Sputnik (John) and a couple of 5watt 2.2ohm resistors and an SRS reset light went *poof*. Going to put a little DIY up in the Modification Section...

I also have a few resistors left over if any local members are in need of them for a seat install or wheel change.

Also made a rough template for what I was thinking of for the center console. Going to get my Pops to cut it out of some plywood for me so I can fine tune it then wrap it...
