wrenching again
so a few weeks ago #1 son got a blowout in my E430 and the tire shredded.
In doing so took out the brake wear sensor wiring and the plastic splash guard underneath the fender well.
parts finally came in, so I crawled under to replace 'em
should be 5 minutes, no sense driving all the way to Erick's and pestering him for the lift for a simple job......dumbass...
. WTF was I thinking?
actually wasn't that bad but I'm getting too old for this sh...
A question for Scott or Matt since you guys are under cars way more than I am,
It's been probably 20 years since I did any serious wrenching on my own cars.
One thing I noticed working on my MBs is the electrical connections.
They are really well sealed and waterproofed with an O-ring gasket on all of the electrical connections I've seen.
Is this a MB thing or have cars improved in general since I've been wrenching?

Most connectors now will have a rubble seal ...
80-90 nissans have been some of the worse I have seen with corrosion and connectors. The 300zx guys call it GREEN DEATH .. if you do any work to a 300zx and it is on the stock harness most will recommend to replace the harness as everything you touch falls apart ..
What we do is use Dielectric Grease to keep most connectors from corroding
