Fuel gauge - cutting it close?
Tonight on my way to El Paso from Alamogordo to pick up my wife's mini from the dealership for service, I did what should be impossible, I drove about 40 miles on one/no bar of gas.
I have never pushed my fuel tank to the limits and have never run out of gas before. I was going to fill up in Orogrande but they only had 86 octane, and according to my wife, while I was in tech school when we had no money, she would drive the car for days on one bar. So I listened and we proceeded to Newman.
When I finally got to Newman the car only took 11 gallons. Now I know the S2ks fuel gauge is off, but damn, 2.2 gallons remain at way less than 1 bar of fuel.
Wierd.
Now I know for autocross and track days I may try and go with 2-4 bars.
