03 Accord wont start.
Hey everyone. I recently sold my 03 accord coupe ex 4 cyl to my friend and it is having problems starting. The car did have some issues starting in the cold while I owned it, but they were minor. It would crank and not turn over on the first try, but would eventually work after a couple minutes. Now after a month out of my hands the car will not start at all. The battery is new and the car has been well maintained throughout ownership. There are 130k miles on the car today and it was given a tune up approx at 90k. Any help is greatly appreciated. Let me know if more information is required.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It attempts to start but shortly dies. We tried jumping it as well and nothing changed. It has a new battery so I don't believe it's that. A friend is going to look at it for me Thursday likely so I'll may have to wait till then. I'm not sure if this is anything anyone can diagnose without seeing the car, but I appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

From what you are describing, it sounds like the battery. Just because a battery is "new" it doesn't mean it's actually new. It could have been sitting in a cold warehouse for 6 months for all you know. The fastest way to find out is to swap another battery in there and see whats up.
99% of "it's not the battery"....it's the battery.

If it "dies" that means the engine fired and died. Jump starting would be useless.
does it crank normally or no? never mind the engine just yet, you are vague about what the symptom is.

Dave - I didn't think it was the battery because we tried two supposedly new batteries from two different stores.
Bill - Apologies for being vague. I am on the road a lot and my Droid phone barely works on the internet. I am as some of you guys know not exactly a mechanic. I will try to be more detailed.
When the key is put in the ignition and turned there is a cranking noise (normal noise you would hear when turning the key), but it is brief and the noise dies (not the car) within a couple of seconds. The noise is very sluggish like its struggling. If you continue to hold the key in position it begins to click.
I appreciate the help. How can I be more clear?

the clicking is the starter. i bet its the battery. if its a new battery, check the wiring on the battery and the terminals. make sure they're all tight and secure. also try to use a battery from a different car and see if it starts. i could be the battery itself.
