Default Replica Racing Seats

I know replica seats are getting really close to copying the originals to the very last detail. To the untrained eye, like myself, one could never tell the difference. The question is, are replica racing seats as comfortable as the original? If not, is it close enough? Is the material used on the replicas the same as the originals?

And for those that's sure to ask. The answer is no. I can't make my own race seats. Well at least not yet.

I would think the "problem" could be the safety and the quality of the material used in knock-off seat production.

Most race seats are FIA certified or some such. Knock-offs just get knock-off certification stickers.

Obviously, in the end, it's your call. To each his own, I don't judge.

Have you looked at Kirkey seats? You can make your own seats.

I wouldn't daily in any race seats, especially Kirkey. I raced in a kirkey once it was brutal for me.

I know there are alot of reps out there that look as good and dont feel much different for a street driver. Most clubs SAY they wont allow you to track with out fia seats but I have never had a club check yet.

for fake or cheaper seats ive seen alot of corbeau and f1spec. just gotta make sure the seat you pick fits first LOL. Also alot of the cheaper seats ive seen make you sit alittle higher (even with adjustable rails) which I didnt want.

edit:
this looks cool and is fia hmm

Good info Jon! I definitely need to sit in one. I have wide shoulders and it bothers me that some seats pushes them forward.

from what ive read, the safety with knock off seats is an issue. im sure if you have good rails and mount it good, you'll be fine. a seat is just metal and padding anyway. not much there to protect you. you just dont want it to rip off the rails when you brake....lol

pretty much what everyone else said. safety, but if money is your limiting factor, why not buy used seats? i picked up a pair of zeta3L's for under 400 bucks. if you want em bad enough you'll find your set.
