joey i was flying back from the bahamas last night and since there was a storm in ny all the airports were closed and we circled around NC until we ran outta gas and had to land there to fill up. i have flown a lot and thats NEVER happend

I imagine staying calm and executing just as you did in training is what a pilot needs to do when in a bind like you experienced.

Do they give good maintenance to those planes? I've read they don't, costs too much and gotta keep those planes in air as long as possible.

I used to work at COLGAN (the ones who crashed up in BUF) there MX was a F---- nightmare, now that I am at Expressjet the difference is night and day, we have an awesome MX program, which is a really nice change from my days at Colgan where they would basically tell you they would Fuk over your schedule if you wrote something up in the logbook............

The Engines are Rollys-Royce, so they usually hold up quite well

 

I thought you pilot guys did stuff like that just to shake things up when you get bored... ;-)

yeah, I wonder if they had the same type of thing as me, only had "Explosive Decompression" and descended into a much more sever Thunderstorm, scary shit man..........

 

Joey...my understanding is the Airbuses have composite tail sections. If you recall the crash off Rockaway shortly after 9/11, investigators found the tailpiece cracked right off from turbulence from a 747's jet wash. The jet that crashed was an Airbus. After that...I never flew an Airbus made plane again. It wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happened to the Air France plane.
