I once called on an ad for a 2 year old Porsche 911 in perfect condition.
He said that the first person to show up on his doorstep with $8.000 in hand
got the car!!!
The guy was getting divorced and had to give his wife half of what he sold it for!!!

Needless to say I was a few hours too late !!!

 

The story about the Porsche wasn't urban legend. That story is actually about a military wife who found out, while he was out to sea, that her husband had been screwing around. Having given her full power of attorney before he left to handle affairs in the house (very normal for military families), she was pissed enough when she found out that she sold his prized Porsche to get him back, then filed for divorce.

My dad's friend got almost new Porsche 924 a cuple years ago from divorced woman for $1000 . It became his weekend club racer. So stuff like this does happen.

 

What a great deal that was, to pick up a Porsche for $50.
