Off topic question, but I was wondering since I couldn't find an answer. When I elect to join the Air Force in a couple years as an officer, is it possible to request a remote in a specific destination? I'd like to go back to Hawaii because it's my hometown or Japan if I'm looking to be adventurous... Would this have to be requested at the recruiter?

You could request, but it'll be just that. A request. After a few years service you can get a BOP (Base Of Preference). But even those aren't guaranteed. To get where ya wanna go, most people I know, end up going to Korea (1 yr short tour) and getting their preferred base as a follow on.

Basically, in short, they will send you where they want you.

You will have to try to get a remote to Korea for a year to get the base you want. (possibly)
