I'm in the market of getting a car now (to compliment the S). It's hurting me when I put mucho milege on the S. I'm stuck between the 01' M3 and the Audi S4. What is the pros/cons for each car. Is it worth it to pay 60+ for the M3? Your opinions are greately appreciated.
PS: What do you guys think about the 97+ NSX? Also looking that it.

If you have the funds, I would buy the M3....but I'm a BMW fan. I certainly wouldn't scoff at an Audi either!

I am bias to Japanese cars, so I'd get the NSX. I have heard great things of the S4 and I know a lot of people who like the M3. If you're thinking of a comfortable daily driver, I'd go M3 probably. Although at $60 my wife would go bye-bye.

I would choose M3. Why don't you go for a testdrive?

As a current Audi owner, I too have my biases. In spite of what others here have done to get their stooks, I am adverse to paying over sticker for a car. The premium to be the first on your block to own one is certainly up to you. Regardless, the S4 is a great car and represents an excellant value. It doesn't shout its abilities with aggressive bodywork so cops tend to ignore them.Plus there are appreciable performance gains available at minimal expense through chipping. Add n exhaust, maybe a short throw shifter...From my own experience, I recommend APR (www.goapr.com). The fact that you live where winter is a reality makes Audi's quattro a no-brainner. You won't get the new body style with an '01 or '02 S4, or the new engine, rumored to be a V8, but the S4 in its current guise is for real and its available without a premium price or a 1 to 2 year wait list.

the new M3 doesn't cost $60K+ (MSRP is around $45K)

The ones without the dealer markup and fully loaded are running under $50K. The new M3 already comes pretty equiped.

Umm, if you're not already on the dealer's waiting list for an M3, well, an S4 is definitely in your future.
