There's only one star in our solar system, by the way - the sun. It's about 93 million miles away. I actually have no idea if we've sent a probe into it or not - I suspect we have though. Anyway, the second closest start to the earth is Proxima Centauri, at 4.2 light years away. That's 265,606 times the distance between Earth and the sun. (In other words, make a scale model where the earth is one inch away from the sun, and Proxima Centauri would be over four miles away. The Sun, by the way, would be 0.009 inches in diameter. Space is big.)

We know what galaxies look like - you can see some yourself with The Raptor's telescopes. Stars are not galaxies.
o yes i kno stars aren't galaxies.....

but from THAT far away....you'd most likely only be able to see the largest and brightest mass in that specific galaxy (i.e. the sun in that galaxy)

so when i referred to seeing a star, i meant another sun far away in another galaxy

there's a thin line separating a philosopher and a nut job.

sometimes that line is crooked.

It's a mathematical certainty that every one of the ~6 billion people living on earth today has at least one common ancestor that lived within the past few thousand years. In other words, everyone in the world today is related, and you must only trace your family tree back a few thousand years to find this common ancestor.

It's a mathematical certainty that every single person living sometime between 5,000 to 7,000 years ago is either an ancestor to all ~6 billion people living today, or their line died out and they have no remaining descendants..
ahhhh.......i believed that and thought i was the only one lol

my sociology professor even pointed it out to us

think about this guys.....how many Irish/Germans have u met......or Chinese/Koreans or Puertorican/Italians or Dutch/German/Irish/ Scots have u met???

in the years to come, we're all gonna have the same qualities as everyone else because we'll all have mixed races in us

because of this we'll all begin to look the same, maybe even be the same skin tone

and in all seriousness,,,,whenever I've heard or even seen theories on researching alien life forms, they all look the same!!!

my professor also gave his predictions as to what we're gonna look like in the future too.....he mentioned bigger heads due to the expansion of our brain due to technological advances and how we'll need a larger brain to understand the use of them....

he mentioned smaller bodies and he even went as far to say that we won't need our pinky toes being that they're non-essential to us..

one of the most intelligent human beings I've ever met....although his beliefs were farfetched......but who's to say ANYTHING is farfetched when regarding to life and its mysteries

nothing to me is farfetched in this lifetime......

I'm even one to believe in things like Karma and "signs"......I've actually experienced some things that I saw signs for earlier in the day that could've helped if i hadn't overlooked them....and I've kept my eye out for things like this

you accept life as it is.... no questions asked

i've embraced it and am choosing to challenge it and question WHY????

remember my dear Sparrow....u had no choice in being born the specific being you are

for all you know, you could've been born one of those poor children that suffer from AIDS and hunger

but for some reason you've been given the opportunity to be the person you are and be a part of S2Ki.....and at the same time your life drove you to read this thread

meant to be ??? who knows....NOT YOU i'm sure!!!!

i guess what I really wanted to get across is how small we truly are and how some things in life such as little fights with your significant other or road rage can really be taken over the line

its so small....

can u imagine how much your life will change if North Korea or Iran decide to make threats with a Nuclear arsenal????

S2Ki will surely diminish quickly....cuz it will have been so insignificant in this lifetime that you'll do nothing but think of those you love and the life you live in...

this is life....question it !!!!
whoa whoa whoa pump your brakes pal...maybe i should have added a lol cuz i was joking man...sheesh...here man have some and relax

What do you mean by "the sun in that galaxy"? Andromeda contains about one trillion suns. There's not really any one single brighest object in Andromeda that makes it visible - it's more akin to a big cloud of stars that we can't make out individually.

yea i kno,,,i'm not in a corner crying about these topics....

i just really like to talk about them and hear wat others have to say about what they question in this lifetime

like "emotions" for example.....or Human anatomy and how after taking Anotomy & Physiology in college how i believe whoever designed us had to be an artist of some sort they way things work off each other and how there are parts of our brain we're unaware of how to use

or hmmm....imagination!!!! thinking is believing sometimes

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. didn't let anyone stop him and his dream...and Galileo was sentenced to death when he first proposed his ideas...

but life changes....and it's still changing

Stupid people breed faster than smart ones, so I think heads will get SMALLER as time goes on. (Not that cranial size is a predictor of intelligence, though. )

i didn't know that...that's very interesting

i once saw a picture of what was believed to be from the Hubble telescope

it was a constellation from i'd say billions of miles away and it showed all the objects and figures that were in and around us.....mind u, it was about the size of a typical magazine page.....

on that page, the Milky Way was represented by a little white dot the size of a crumb.....there's so much out there guys
