I think it depends on the time of year and if you're willing to risk not having a reservation. I used to work at a couple of hotels and if it was quiet and we had a walk in, we'd give anyone the discount, but if you're talking the high season, that's a different story.

Research your 100 mile free tow. It may not be what you think it is. They have a mileage limit to each tow that is determined by their contract with the towing company in that area.

They might have a 5 mile limit with that towing company. It's not as if you can choose where you break down so your tow feature might end up costing you more than if you just called a company out of the yellow pages since THEIR towing companies tend to have exorbitant fees for anything over their limit. Try $300 for me.

Maps are available online from too many sources for them to be considered a plus and as far as insurance goes, shop around, you will usually find your discount isn't really worth anything.

I know that at hotels the AAA discount is most of the time more expensive than other rates available from the hotel at the front desk. My son and daughter both work for hotel chains.
Did this actually happen to you with the AAA "Plus" membership? Did you try and dispute it with AAA, and if so, what happened? I was going to go with AAA for the main reason of the 100 mile tow range.

Yes it did. No, AAA was no help. Plus their contractees have the right to charge a much higher rate than the norm for the area for any excesses beyond THEIR contract with AAA. (who cares what YOUR contract says)

PM sent. I no longer have AAA.
