Default ? about repairing burn in on Sony projo tv

A coworker of mine has a Sony projection tv (I'm guessing 3-4 years old) with some slight burn in. It's not very noticeable most of the time, but does anyone know what it takes to repair burn in? I thought I read before that the CRTs need to be replaced, though he thinks the burn in can be undone by leaving the tv on overnight with a blank blue or white screen.

Any A/V experts here?

And, no, burn in cannot be "fixed".
