highly doubtful they will stick 18's stock on an acura..the nsx doesn't even come with 18's!..it's probably just for show..kinda like when they had the eclipse prototype (3g) and they had 20" wheels on it..but eventually it just came out with 17's...

last night as i was parking in a large parking lot, someone chased me down to talk about the stook. he was really interested in where i bought it because he sells cars at classic honda in round rock. anyway speaking on the "will honda keep making the s2000" issue he said(and I dont know wether to believe him or not); however, he said that after 2001, the s2000's platform is going in a new acura, and hence the s2000 will not be produced any longer. Is this the acura that is getting our platform??? is this information true?

Man, they need to stick with what brought them. I'm not really sure what you'd compare that to. They've lost the performance image. Kinda looks like a neon....blak! I don't even want to see the Type R version. It's ruined!!

Ok who's the a...hole that gave them number to Chrysler? Of course if they made it red it would have been more palletable.

I'm really disappointed!

OH well, another fine design bites the dust! Reminances of the TR7....YUK! Big Thumbs down on this one!

How about that new Nissan Z? 6 speed, 6 cyl, 260 HP, 240 lb/ft torque. Sounds like similar stats to the S. It's got a roof though Not bad looking either and a similar price point.

Also, is it just me or are the new Thuderbird and that Ford 49 thing the ugliest damn cars you've ever seen?? YUCK!

I think it looks Acura/conservative nice. There's nothing revolutionary about the design, but rather evolutionary. It still looks like the last Integra, but with enough new styling cues to make the design fresh. My question, why make the redesign so radical that it loses its connection with the past designs? After all, I think Acura got it right with this current generation. Why stray too far from success--just build on what you've already got.

Look what happened to the Eclipse. In terms of exterior design, the last Eclipse was nice--nicer even than the 3rd Gen Integra. So what does Mitsubishi do? They completely chucked what worked for them previously and replaced it with a monstrosity they call a geo-mechanical design. And with it, they lost their sense of identity that old customers could identify with. A bad move all around really.

When it comes to engines, Acura/Honda is a leader. When it comes to designs, they merely do a good job of learning from everyone else's mistakes and triumphs.

i think the mingster beater contest is getting tighter: RS-X, WRX Turbo, or the new Sentra SE-R Spec V (180HP, 180LB).

mingster's beater: under $25K for commute.

mingster's treature: S2K sitting pretty in the garage. (the wife is of course the biggest treasure)

I think this guy is SORELY mistaken. I've been reading up on the RS-x for a long time now, and the only comparison to the S2000 that I ever heard was that it'd ahve a "detuned" S2K engine in there makin' about 220 hp for the Type R. This car is actually built on the Civic platform and that's where the resemblance comes from.

As for the Type R coming out. I also read that there won't be a Type R, but a Type S. From the article I read, it said that Acura doesn't want to bring something as extreme as the Type R into its lineup. That's where the more conservative (yet still oddly fun to drive) Type S cars are coming into play. This allows them to keep that "luxury" badge...and leaves major ass rippin' cars for Honda's badge.(i.e. CL Type S, the new TL Type S, and hopefully soon...the RS-X Type S)

The major reasoning behind the rebuild of this car is because the Integra is now a pretty dated car. A few years ago, it was WAY ahead of its time, and a solid little pocket rocket. But if you take a look at most small coupe comparisons of late, the Integra has lost its top spot. I'm not saying the car is worthless...it's just gettin' old. That's the deciding factor with the NSX rebuild. They're updating the chassis...and with that, a new body is bound to arise. Just look at the Accord...perfect example.

Comparing it to the Eclipse is kinda whack n my opinion. (Not trying to knock your opinions...just stating mine...) Only because the Eclipse isn't totally Mitsubishi. They had a taste of Chrysler before, and now they ahve their messy contract with Ford. Plus, Mitsubishi has never been a company to take strides in the auto industry. They make decent TV's if you're willing to drop mad dough on'em...but their cars are just okay right now.

And a couple more things...as stated above, the production model probably won't have 18's on the wheels. If we're lucky, they'll give us 17's standard, and an 18" option...but who knows?
The interior will be pretty plain again, 'cause I don't think everyone would like the blue mess inside. I like the whole thing...but obviously some of you hate it. So whatever...I think the production run will be far more conservative on the inside. But I'm pretty sure the body's here to stay...

That's all I can think of right now. I hope my tendencies to be long winded aren't too evident...
