Default Advise please- Shipping mishap with handaaccessories

Oh man. First off, handa-accessories was great. No problems with them. I just bought the front spoiler in a group buy and they shipped it 3 day air. I bought it on Feb 25, 2002. So today, I forgot I ordered 3 day air and assumed I had it shipped ground. After two weeks I figured I should have gotten it. So I tracked it. I had the package delivered to:
Ken Hodgson
Bay State Motorsports
address....
When I tracked it (on 3/15/02) it says that the package was delivered on 2/28/02 and signed for by one of my coworkers. So I ran to this coworker who I trust alot and asked him about it. He says he thinks he remembers signing for it but never saw the package. Duh? I ripped apart everything in the recently remodeled dealership and there is nothing there! I'm afraid either UPS forgot it on the truck or it got thrown out. I want to file a UPS claim...
I went to UPS and ended up getting in a fight with them. Here is my argument. The package was addressed to me and I did not sign for it. My coworker even works for a different company and not Bay State Motorsports, however it is in the same building. In the past this UPS driver has even brought the packages to customers in the lot to sign mistaking them for employees. WTF? Is that negligance or what.
UPS was wrong for not having me sign for it, and giving it to someone who doesn't even work for the company. The person that signed for it is stupid for not looking at the package and giving it to me. I just blew $350. I feel like crap. I can't even sleep. What can I do? Can I hold UPS liable? The package is gone. What a waste.

have you filed a claim with UPS? you should file a denial of delivery claim - I think that's what its called. once pushed through the chains, you might get a fraction, maybe more, of your item in a dollar amount in say.. 6 to 8 weeks. that's usually how it works. could be sooner and could be different. you never know. but I would do more than just go down to the local UPS center.

I'd say your irresponsible "friend" owes you a spoiler or 350 clams!

yup i agree, ask UPS to show your friends signature when he got the item... he is the one that will be responsible.. if you get the $ from UPS, UPS will just in turn go after your friend.

Without additional coverage from UPS your max claim is $100. I agree you should file a claim. UPS is famous for thier "DNR" home delivery. If you see the "DNR" it means Did Not Respond. When I call UPS on traces I always tell them that the driver had a Drop and Run.

S2Krazy - I know you expained in the first line of your message, but the thread title would lead one to believe that H&A had something to do with the shipping problem.

for sure someone is going to pay for the loss item, its not like they just left the package at the door and someone stole it...

I know its difficult for you to do, but an advice to others out there - get to know your UPS delivery person! I know mine, he knows my car, he knows when its out there I'm usually home or else he'll just drop the stuff in the apt. office. I usually have plenty of time to tell him when bigger shipments like tires will be coming in.

You will never guess what happened. The package showed up today. The UPS driver had no clue that anything was wrong. He must have left it in the truck or something. Phew!
